The Department of Computational Applied Mathematics and Operations (CMOR) — formerly Computational and Applied Mathetics — at Rice University is a close-knit community of faculty and students working toward solving challenges through applied mathematics, with the support of a staff dedicated to the department's mission. Our core research strengths in mathematics include applied analysis, high-performance computing, numerical linear algebra, numerical methods for differential equations, operations research, and optimization.
Commitment to Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
The Department of Computational Applied Mathematics and Operations is focused on education, research, service, and professional development of its individual members. In that spirit, we are committed to creating and maintaining a welcoming, supportive, engaging, and inclusive environment for all, irrespective of socio-economic status, race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, nationality, religious beliefs, perceived physical disability, and prior educational background.
The entire CMOR department is committed to promoting equality, inclusion, and representation within our own community, and the academic and professional communities at large. Hence, the faculty, staff, and students strive to ensure that our actions match our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion both now and in the future.
